Sir Francis Forbes Dinner

This year’s Sir Francis Forbes Dinner will launch the Kalari-Lachlan River Arts Festival with an evening of music, dance and a look at early Forbes tourism.
National Library of Australia historian and Forbes local Rob Willis OAM will be this year’s guest speaker. Rob will provide an entertaining history of Frank Heinke, a pioneer of tourism in Forbes and will also highlight some of the changes in entertainment culture. Photographs from the Forbes Historical Society collection as well as audio recordings from the National Library will also be on display.
Luke and Erica Byrne will perform a musical theatre number from Porgy and Bess throughout the evening – the musical that gave Forbes-born Aboriginal soprano Lorna Beulah her major break into Melbourne theatre.
The evening will wrap up with live music entertainment from Last Call.
Tickets are available from Laurel Hull on 6852 1862 or laurelh@westserv.net.au for $80.
